Parents and Guardians,
As we approach the winter sports season and prepare for upcoming field trips, including overnight trips, we want to ensure the safety and well-being of all students. If your child requires medication during these events, please be reminded that the Health Office needs the completed Medication Administration Form or the Self-Carry Medication Form for emergency medications.
This includes. any emergency medication for school/sports/field trips, daily medications for school/sports/field trips, or medications taken at home in the morning or evening if your student is attending an overnight trip.
To make sure we are fully prepared, please complete and return the forms for any medications your child may need while attending winter sports, field trips, or overnight events.
This includes:
•Emergency medications (e.g., EpiPens, inhalers)
•Daily medications
•Morning or evening medications taken at home
These forms must be submitted in advance of the scheduled events to ensure proper planning and delegation of medications, if necessary.
Please follow these steps:
1. Complete the Medication Administration Form for each medication your child needs.
2. Submit the completed forms to the Health Office.
3. Ensure all medications are in the original package with the pharmacy label attached as we cannot accept medications without the pharmacy label
If you have any questions or need assistance with the forms, please do not hesitate to contact the Health Office.
Thank you for your cooperation in helping us ensure a safe and enjoyable experience for all students.
Greetings Fossil Families,
For several years, our front exterior and lobby doors have opened early, from 6:45 AM to 9:15 AM, to accommodate students with zero periods, make-up testing, or additional support. After gathering feedback from community members, the FRHS Safety Team, and district safety directors, we have decided to enhance our exterior door security protocols.
Key Changes:
Starting November 4th, 2024, our front exterior doors will only be open during specific time windows around the start of each period. The doors will be unlocked for 10 minutes before and after the start bell of each period, with staff supervision in place during these times. The front office is staffed at 8:35 AM every day including Wednesday study support mornings and homeroom days.
For students with zero-hour classes, teachers will provide instructions on how to access the building if they arrive more than 10 minutes late after the period begins. After 10 minutes past the start of any period, the doors will automatically lock. Beginning at 8:35 AM, students and community members can still access the building when the doors are locked by pressing the intercom button located on the exterior brick wall just outside the main entrance. Our receptionist can talk to the person pushing the button and ultimately let them in.
Testing Center Access:
What’s not changing: During the school day the testing center location and protocols will NOT change.
What will change: the morning location and protocols for the testing center.
To support students during this transition, a staff member will supervise the front entrance starting at 7:30 AM for the first two weeks. This staff member will inform students that the building won’t open until the designated time and will guide those heading to the testing center. We will also have signage on the front entrance door directing students toward the new testing center location. We will share more information about testing center access as we establish a permanent solution.
Safety versus convenience:
We recognize that some families have been dropping off students early for scheduling convenience, and we appreciate your understanding as we prioritize safety. Our goal is to prevent students from waiting outside in inclement weather, and we aim to communicate these changes well in advance so that you can make the necessary arrangements.
We understand that this shift may cause some inconvenience, and we sincerely apologize for any disruption it may bring. However, we believe that ensuring safety must come first.
Thank you for your understanding and cooperation.
