Academics

Our RIDGE values that define our Fossil family.

Respect, Integrity, Determination, Gratitude, and Excellence serve as the foundation for all that we do each day, and what we hope our students will take with them after graduation.  These RIDGE values translate into specific behaviors that build a positive school culture, where we recognize the dignity of every student and staff member.  The heart of a SaberCat is strong, compassionate, and filled with pride for our school and community.

Our students have opportunities to earn college credit while in high school, through concurrent enrollment and AP courses.  Students can explore their passions and interests in our robust elective courses, complete work-based learning internships, apprenticeships, and career-based field trips.  We offer many leadership options for students during the school day and in over 65 school and student sponsored clubs, in addition to 27 varsity and unified Special Olympics sports.  Our coaches seek to inspire and develop our student athletes through honor, passion, and joy!  Our teachers and club sponsors help students learn lifelong skills such as a strong work-ethic, determination, and teamwork.

We hope that you take time to view many our programs and course offerings through our Counseling website.  Our RAMP certified counseling program and mental health team support students with college planning, social/emotional supports, and skill development in self-advocacy and problem-solving techniques that they will need after graduation.

The Fossil Ridge community is supportive, dedicated to success, and focused on developing supportive relationships.  Once a SaberCat, Always a SaberCat.

At Fossil Ridge High School we support and encourage a strong communication relationship between classroom teachers, students and parents. Many of our teachers have a class website managed through Google Classroom and teacher websites. Fossil Ridge teachers post current class notes, announcements, assignments, and even assessments for students to access at any time either within the school or at home.  Many FRHS teachers also use the more advanced features of  Google Classroom programs to enable students to share and evaluate multimedia presentations, participate in course blog and discussions, and access recorded course lectures and presentations.

Parents/Guardians can access their student’s online classrooms by contacting the teacher for class codes.  Online classroom information can also be found on individual Teacher Learning Pages.  Links to Teacher Learning Pages can be found under the Academics tab of the FRHS website.

Dropping a Class

Students may drop a class up to the 3rd week of a quarter with a "W", if the drop will not put the student below the required credit hours. Permission will only be granted with administrator, teacher, parent, and counselor approval. After the 3rd week, and dropped class will result in a "WF". A "WF" drop requires student, parent, and counselor or administrator approval.
