Add/Drop Information

Hello Fossil Families,

For those new to Fossil Ridge High School, Counselors would like to share information related to Add/Drop. On Thursday, August 20th, we will be hosting our fall Add/Drop event in the Large and Small Gyms (please note that an incorrect date was listed in the welcome newsletter). Below is some helpful information to have as we begin school. There is also a helpful video about what to expect at Add/Drop.

FALL SEMESTER ADD/DROP EVENT - THURSDAY, AUGUST 20, 2026

What is Add/Drop?

Add/Drop is an event designed for students who want, rather than need, to make changes to their schedule. For example, if a student wishes to add a class that was not on their original course requests or is trying to adjust a schedule to accommodate for a specific off period or section.

When is Add/Drop?

FRHS will host our fall semester Add/Drop event on THURSDAY, August 20, 2026 beginning at 7:30 AM lasting until 9:30 AM. We will have a modified schedule for Thursday 8/20. To accommodate so many students, Seniors will enter beginning at 7:30 AM. Juniors at approximately 8:00 AM. Sophomores approximately 8:30 AM, and Freshmen approximately 9:00 AM.

Who can attend Add/Drop?

All students can attend Add/Drop if they wish to make changes to their Q1, Q2, Q3 and Q4 schedules.

Where is Add/Drop going to be held?

Add/Drop will be held in the Large and Small Gyms.

How does Add/Drop work?

Students are encouraged to pick up an Add/Drop form in the North Wing Office prior to Add/Drop Day (the majority of students picked up an Add/Drop form at check-in).

Each Department has a staffed table at the Add/Drop event. Students visit a Department’s table to obtain a signature to add a class. For example, if a student wants to add FRCC Introduction to Sociology, he/she will visit the Social Studies Department Table. If a student wants to drop a class, he/she follows the same procedure of obtaining a signature.

Students who want to add a class must obtain a signature from a Department member prior to dropping a class. This ensures that there are seats available in the desired class.

All students must be enrolled in a minimum of three classes per quarter.

Counselors and staff will be available to assist students with questions.

Afterwards, students will attend their "new" classes if they are successful at making the changes they want. Students should note the classrooms of their new classes so they know where to go.

Counselors will be processing all forms received and hope to have final rosters accurate by Friday afternoon.

How can students pick up an Add/Drop form?

Students can pick up Add/Drop forms from the North Wing office area at summer check-in or during the first week of school. Forms are divided by class and are numbered. This number indicates place in line.

Do students need a parent/guardian's signature to drop/change a class?

Yes! There is a signature line for Parents/Guardians at the bottom of the form. This will indicate the Parent/Guardian’s consent for their student to drop or change a class.

Is there a video I can watch to help explain how Add/Drop works?

Yes! Check the video (LINK) in the attachment.

What else should I know?

FRHS Administrators and Counselors spend a large amount of time ensuring that classes are requested and scheduled per each student’s individual requests. Not all changes will be accommodated due to space constraints and section availability. Please be patient and demonstrate our RIDGE values at this event.

Thank you!
