Absence Reporting

If you are using PTO or Sick Leave, you can enter that time yourself and request substitutes if necessary by selecting the SmartFind Express link.

If you request a substitute the system will assign our building support team first. If they are already assigned for that time it will call out to any available subs for Fossil Ridge.

You have the option to request a specific substitute also, like you could in the past.

Absences for anything other than PTO or Sick Leave need to be requested on the Absence Request Form, (link to the left) which is our version of the "orange" form.

This must be used when requesting approval for variance days or Floating Workdays/PEA Days. You will use the same process for Jury Duty and Bereavement Leave. These will be entered by OM or Sara Smith once approved.

FLOATING WORKDAY (PEA day): One full substitute day, which may be split into half days, will be available for each teacher as a floating workday. The date shall be determined at least five (5) school days in advance in consultation with their administrator and shall be used at the discretion of the teacher to relieve workload issues. The administrator shall consult with the teacher to determine another possible date if there is a conflict. Work may occur at any District location after consultation with their administrator. Part-time teachers will receive a partial day based upon their assignment.

• This day shall not be used on District designated variance days.

• This day shall not be used on designated building/workdays.

• This day shall be rescheduled if the absence places a specific undue burden on the site.

• This day, if broken into half days, is limited to one per month.

• This day, if broken into half days, shall not be used on consecutive workdays.

• The conditions of 11.2.8 shall be modified upon mutual agreement of the administrator and the teacher.
